Boating training in Mallorca with half a century of history

In 1976, Calanova was one of the first centres in Spain where sailing instruction was organised as a formal discipline. It was here that the country’s first sailing instructors and generations of regatta sailors were trained. Fifty years on, the mission remains unchanged: to teach people to sail safely, thoroughly and with a deep connection to the sea.

This course is aimed at children with at least two years’ previous experience in the Optimist class; the switch to the Open Skiff marks a move towards faster sailing. The Open Skiff is a fantastic boat for young sailors to enjoy the experience of sailing. Sailing in this class is fast, exciting and fun, yet the boat is easy to assemble and maintain. Many of the skills learnt in the Open Skiff will easily transfer to other boats as young sailors develop and progress to other sailing disciplines.
